Sir James Galway is internationally regarded as both a matchless interpreter of the classical repertoire and a consummate entertainer. With his unique sound, superb musicianship and dazzling virtuosity, he has a charismatic appeal that crosses all musical boundaries and has made him one of the most respected and sought-after performing artists of our time. He also devotes much of his free time to his duties as President of Flutewise, a non-profit organization that donates instruments to low-income students and young people with disabilities.

 

Born in Belfast in 1939, Sir James began his career at the Sadler’s Wells Opera Company and the Royal Opera House. In 1975 he launched his career as a soloist and, with the help of best-selling discs and frequent television appearances, quickly became a household name. Since then he has travelled extensively, giving recitals, performing with the world’s leading orchestras. On 4 July 2000 he helped celebrate the first Independence Day of the century as a guest soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra in a nationally televised PBS special entitled “A Capitol Fourth”, broadcast live from the West Lawn of the Capitol. Sir James has also taken up the baton and in addition to numerous conducting engagements around the world he is Principal Guest Conductor of the London Mozart Players.

 

In 1978 Sir James Galway was awarded the Order of the British Empire and in June 2001 he received the honour of knighthood from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In 1997 he was named “Musician of the Year” by Musical America and has received Record of the Year awards from Billboard and Cash Box, as well as the Grand Prix du Disque for his recordings of Mozart’s Flute Concertos and numerous gold and platinum discs. In 2004 he received the President’s Merit Award from the Recording Academy at the Grammy’s 8th annual “Salute to Classical Music and in 2005 he was honoured at the prestigious Classic Brits Awards held in London’s Royal Albert Hall for his “Outstanding Contribution to Classical Music” in celebration of his 30 years as one of the top classical musicians of our time.

In March 2004 Sir James signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon. His first release, Wings of Song, reached the no. 1 spot on the classical charts immediately after its release in August 2004. His latest recording, My Magic Flute, features Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp (with Catrin Finch) plus a collection of favourite arias, sonatas and concerto movements, all arranged for flute, flute duet (with Sir James’s wife, Lady Jeanne) or flute and harp with orchestra and is scheduled for release in autumn 2006

An accomplished flutist, Lady Jeanne Galway continues to grace the international platforms with her eloquence and virtuosity. One of the leading female flute soloists of the decade, Lady Galway brings to the audience her unique style and elegance.

 

Her touring schedule regularly takes her to many of the major cities in the USA to perform as soloist with orchestras such as Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Seattle, , she has appeared in the cultural capitals of the world including London, New York, Milan, Rome, Tokyo, Beijing and Singapore.

 

Appearing regularly as the premiere Flute Duo Partner with her husband Sir James Galway, the two delight audiences and bring a rare freshness to the platform, unique to the music world.

 

Alongside her highly successful career as a soloist, Lady Galway is also an accomplished chamber musician, touring regularly with her trio Zephyr (with pianist Jonathan Feldman and cellist Darrett Adkins).

 

Actively pursuing her love for teaching, Lady Galway dedicates much of her time to working with the younger generation through her articles, master-classes and recordings. She is co-founder of the Galway Junior Network, an interactive website aimed towards the younger, less advanced flutist, offering tips and advice on flute playing, performing and career management.

 

She has recorded to critical acclaim for RCA Victor, BMG Classics and Deutsche Grammophon. Most recently she can be heard performing a newly commissioned piece ‘The Magic Flutes’ with her husband Sir James Galway and Sinfonia Varsovia on the recently released Deutsche Grammophon album My Magic Flute.

 

 

Born in Chicago, Phillip Moll has lived in Berlin since 1970.  After receiving degrees in English from Harvard University and in music from the University of Texas, and following a year at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich on a DAAD grant, he was employed as a repetiteur by the German Opera in Berlin until 1978.  Since then he has been active as an accompanist and ensemble pianist, performing with such diverse artists as Kurt Moll, James Galway, Kyung Wha Chung, and Kolya Blacher.  He also works frequently with various Berlin ensembles, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the German Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Radio Choir.  For many years he has performed throughout Europe, North America and the Far East.  He devotes time each year to teaching, both privately and in master classes, most recently during the summers of 1999, 2000 and 2001 at the Steans Institute at Ravinia, near Chicago.  During the 2004-5 season he has been a guest professor at the Leipzig Conservatory.  Among the more recent of the many recordings in which he has taken part are a program of shorter pieces for young people with flutist James Galway, whom he has accompanied since 1975.

巴济尼1862年作于米兰。题献给捷克小提琴家恩斯特（H.W.Ernzt）。这首帕格尼尼式的技巧性乐曲，对演奏者的技艺要求极高，经常作为小提琴独奏音乐会的首选曲目。乐曲为e小调，2/4拍子，急板，回旋曲式。对于乐曲的描写有热作过这样的理解：深夜，在寂静的森林里，一个凶悍的女妖坐在树上，挥舞着鞭子，小妖精门在鞭子的抽打下疯狂地跳舞，同时筋疲力尽地期待着黎明。全曲演奏时间约4分钟。

芭蕾音乐本身就是一种无论长幼均喜闻乐见的音乐形式，芭蕾组曲则是芭蕾音乐的精华浓缩版本，极具可听性与欣赏价值！！它可以满足聆听者的各种需求--快乐、悲伤；沉思、兴奋；热烈、温柔。圣桑的音乐听起来就像是古典音乐，它“正确”，但决不沉闷。他的协奏曲具有抒情的魅力，结构严密。此曲选自歌剧《阿斯坎尼欧》，这曲芭蕾音乐同样可以张到圣桑音乐的特点。

拉威尔作于1895年。原为双钢琴曲《听觉的风景》中的第一曲。后来放入《西班牙狂想曲》中成为第三曲，而广为人们所知晓。再后被改编为小提琴及其它多种乐器的独奏曲。1898年由著名钢琴家李卡德·威涅斯及马特·杜隆首演。由法国鲁杜克出版社出版。虽为作者弱冠之作，仍显示了洗练的作曲技巧。乐曲为三段体结构，西班牙哈巴奈拉节奏鲜明，旋律优美充满哀愁。全曲演奏时间约为2分40秒钟。

法兰兹 & 卡尔杜普勒：匈牙利幻想长笛二重奏，法兰兹·杜普勒和卡尔·杜普勒普分别出生于1821年和1825年的莱比锡，两位长笛家于1830年，到达匈牙利后，创作了多首著名的长笛曲子。双长笛协奏曲中介绍了匈牙利的风光，而在波希米亚主题，《布拉格的回忆》中可以感受到典型波希米亚的浪漫、民俗风格。此曲由詹姆斯·高威与他的夫人珍妮·高威联袂献演，别有一番情调。
